Lottery Winners Who Never Received Their Money

Winning a lottery can feel like a dream coming true. Imagine the level of joy and excitement that anyone can feel just at the thought of winning a lottery. The $5 Million Under-aged winner- In July 2017, a man named Ward Thomas from California was saddened by the lottery authorities. He won $5 million, but he was refused because his 16 years old son bought the lottery ticket for him. One day he has sent his son to buy a ticket booklet, and one of that tickets hit the jackpot. After drawing, they found that they won. So he decided to claim the money. But the lottery authorities denied their winning because only adults over the age of 16 can buy lottery tickets. So Thomas decided to prosecute against the California Lotter Commission for breaching of agreement and negligence. However, the commission hasn’t responded to these allegations yet, but they will continue the case. Seven seconds late- A Canadian man named Joel Ifergan was an accountant of Quebec by profession. He decided to buy a lottery ticket of the Lotto Super 7 and fortunately won $27 million. But again, the lottery department did not get his winning amount because his winning ticket was printed seven seconds after the deadline ended. So he also decided to appeal against the lottery commission, and the case reached the Supreme Court of Canada. However, after seven years of struggle, the court declared that Joel has no right to revive the payment as the lottery regulations were clear and announced in advance. 

Legal Weaknesses- The Illinois lottery had made many lottery winners upset in the year 2015 when a new law passed regarding the payout of lottery prizes. When the lottery winners were waiting for the hearing of the bill, the Illinois lottery suddenly announced that they would not be able to payout prizes that are below $25,000. Many lottery players were not happy with this declaration. Why? Because a lottery winner named Ronda Rasche won a lottery of amount $50,000 and was expecting the money soon. But after the announcement of this statement, she was sued against the lottery authorities because they wanted to speed up the entire process. But she was not alone in this quest, and she joined hands with many other lottery winners and started a class-action lawsuit. They are accusing the Authority of making fraud advertisements that claimed to make immediate prize payouts. The best part id if they win the trial declarations, the winner will be paid 5% over the total amount they have won.
